Mesh Heads for ION Drum Rocker (Alesis, OSP, Simmons, Yoki)
From: $10.00
Product Description
MORE REBOUND! MUCH QUIETER!
Set of 8 inch hand made mesh heads. They do not require any modding what so ever to the set. It’s a straight forward swap with the addition of the foam pad beneath the head.
What you get with your purchase:
Mesh Drum Head to replace your stock rubber.
Foam Pad to go underneath the mesh.
Kits that these knowingly fit:
- Ion Drum Rocker
- Alesis, Simmons, OSP, Yoki, Techtonic, Rocktronics, DD502 & DD908 kits(Basically most DD502 & DD908 Kits)
PLEASE NOTE: These are mesh HEADS, not the full pad. You replace your stock rubber head with these to quiet them down and give yourself more rebound. If you need a full pad, we would suggest the Mylar Pads.
STEP 1: Remove the 6 screws, and then pull the ring and rubber off.

STEP 2: Place the foam onto the pad, then the mesh. Place the rings back into place, and tighten the 6 screws.

STEP 3: YOU’RE DONE! START ROCKING OUT!

I ordered the Mesh Heads and in a few days they were here!! nice fast shipping
. I opened up the package and was like, “hmm.. whats is this homemade stuff”? So I installed them, was a tight fit but went on fast. Cranked up Rock Band 3 and was blown away!! I am amazed at what a nice and wonderful upgrade this has made. The Mesh Heads feel great, my misses are now gone, they are quit and have awesome rebound.
They are so inexpensive for such a great improvement, I very highly recommend them. Esp. if your IONS are older and the rubber is getting lose and stretched.
Between being able to very easily replace the drum sensors for almost nothing, this upgrade has probably extended the life of my drums for a quite a while. I was looking into buying a Roland drums but I no longer have any need to replace them!
Thanks RockBandParts!!! you saved me a ton of $$

Pros:
Way more rebound than the stock Ion pads.
Definitely quieter.
Great price for what you’re getting, that’s for sure.
Double strokes are much easier with these.
I’ve had my drum set for 3~4 years now and haven’t changed anything, and it still picks up all my hits with these new heads.
Ordered them on Thursday, got them Monday.
Cons:
Takes a lot to screw the ring back on, but I just took the washers off and it screwed in considerably easier.

Again, I’m coming off of old Ion stock heads so take that as you will.
I don’t know if these are better than Mylar’s (probably not), but they are better than stock Ion pads.

These just came in the mail yesterday. I was incredibly shocked at how low the price was for a set of new heads and was honestly a bit skeptical about how good they could be for the price. Still, I slapped them on there, and there is definitely a notice improvement in both volume and rebound. Not only that, but the look incredibly sexy! xD
My old stock rubber heads were really starting to give out on me, but I hadn’t wanted to drop the cash on more expensive pads. These are definitely an improvement on the stock rubber heads and well worth the small price tag of $10 a piece! If you’re considering buying a set of these, I definitely recommend you try them!

I was going to make a review myself but it seems like Sozo took everything I wanted to say about them. I was also a bit sceptical when I opened the package and noticed they were “home made”, but they are awesome! Plus they look cooler than the original rubber

I heard about these through a friend on Skype, and when I saw the price, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. When I got them (relatively fast), the appearance of them was good, and about what I expected. The difficult part was getting them on properly, and I don’t know if it was just me, but it took about 30 minutes or so to get 3 of them on. After that I fired up the Xbox and was shocked at how quiet the pads were now. Even though I’ve only used them for an hour, they were definitely worth it.
Bottom line: If you like good rebound and much quieter pads, these are your solution.

Before going to Mylar Pads, I went with the Mesh Head Mod. While they weren’t the same Mesh Heads found on RBP (They were Pearl Mesh Heads) The amount of rebound and sensitivity on them were flawless! The only reason I ended up switching to Mylar pads, was because I used Mesh Heads on 4 year old pads that happened to not be responsive no matter what! But if you use these heads on your pads that got bubbles on them, then these are a great way to fix that! You can literally flick the pad with your index or middle finger, and Rock Band will register it as a hit. I would recommend this option to anyone, you won’t be disappointed with how well these work!

I just bought these and so far am very pleased with the mesh heads. They are definitely quieter and have greater rebound, but the stick tends to slide off if you hit the pad at an angle. Another problem I had with my mesh heads was the installation. These were an incredibly close fit, and at first glance you wouldn’t think that they would go on. It took me and my brother a bit of time and tremendous amounts of pressure, but once we got the heads installed they looked gorgeous. I would recommend these pads on the basis of price as well as the improvement you will get in note recognition.
